2026 Staff Application
SJCC Summer Camps counsellors are a team of passionate and compassionate staff chosen for their experience, skills and dedication to working with kids.
We provide staff training and professional growth, teaching important skills that can be taken beyond camp and into future jobs. Camp counsellors are entrusted with an incredible amount of responsibility and opportunities for developing leadership skills.
A job as a summer camp counsellor teaches:
- An ability to work under pressure
- The ability to multi-task
- A strong sense of teamwork
- An ability to work with all types of people
- Creativity and problem-solving skills
Counsellors are responsible for overall camper safety and well-being and use their creativity to prepare and implement games and activities for a camp group over the course of the summer. Our counsellors develop leadership skills, act as role models, and create lasting memories for themselves and for the campers.
Minimum Qualifications for all SJCC Summer Camps
The ideal candidate:
- Understands camp culture and willingness to fully participate in all camp activities and events
- Is a strong leader and self-starter
- Has previous experience working at camp and/or with children
- Organized with attention to detail
- Has a positive and personable outlook, energetic, happy, hardworking, and effective in high pressure situations
- Must enjoy working in a team environment

Sports Camp
Entering grade 10 and up
Hours:
- All staff must be available for the entire duration of camp, June 29 – August 14
- 8:15 am – 4:30 pm
- Must be available for pre-camp training
JCC Day Camp
Entering grade 10 and up.
Early Childhood Education (ECE) certificate an asset (recent graduates welcome)
Hours:
- All staff must be available for the entire duration of camp, June 29 – August 21
- 8:15 am – 4:30 pm
- Must be available for pre-camp training
Specialty Camps
Minimum age, entering first-year university/college
Hours:
- All staff must be available for the entire duration of camp, June 29 – August 28
- 8:15 am – 4:30 pm
- Must be available for pre-camp training
