Monday

NEW! Introductory Junior Ballet

Senior Kindergarten – Grade 2

This fun new program provides a welcoming and safe environment for young students to explore their creative side through movement and a comfortable space to step outside their comfort zone. Learn the foundational skills and positions of the classical ballet technique using the Royal Academy of Dance method. The skills and positions that we will be focusing on are: first position, parallel or sixth position, plies, pointed versus flexed feet, coordination of the arms and fingers, and jumps, classical walks, classical runs, balancing, simple spins, gallops, and skips. Additionally, we will work with the students to help them with their rhythm, spatial awareness, and performance skills. Tight active wear such as shorts, leggings, t-shirts, as well as ballet slippers is recommended.

Senior Basketball

Grades 4 to 8

Introduce your child to basketball in a supportive group setting.  This program focuses on positive attitude, proper preparation and fostering constant effort throughout.  Each class is 60 minutes and is broken down into a 20/20/20 format.  The first 20 minutes focus on doing proper program warm-up followed by movement, speed and agility circuits.  The second set of 20 minutes are skills and drills where the fundamentals of basketball are introduced; dribbling, passing, shooting, lay-ups, rebounding, defense as well as learning basic strategies of the game.  The final 20 minutes are for scrimmages together, where the children can put their positive attitudes, efforts and newly learned skills to use and have fun.

Tuesday

NEW! Dance, Dance, Dance

Grade 3-5

An introductory class to jazz dance. Our main goal is to provide a welcoming and safe environment for young students to explore their creative side through movement. In addition to this, we wish to provide a comfortable space for students to socialize with others, learn to participate in a classroom setting, as well as learn to step outside their comfort zone. We will be teaching skills such as jumps, turns, and kicks. We will also work on strength and flexibility. Finally, we will be learning various combinations to all your favorite pop songs. For this class we ask that students wear tight fitting active wear and jazz shoes.

Karate

Grades 3 to 7

Karate is a way of life. Students learn physical skills as well as self-discipline, self-motivation, respect and the importance of giving back to the community. Combines top-notch martial arts training, while reaching new heights of physical fitness and promoting excellence in all areas of life. Assertiveness and personal safety skills are incorporated into the class full of kicks and kiais. Gi’s must be worn to class and are available to order and purchase through 6 Tigers Academy after the first class. (If another lockdown occurs classes will be moved to an online format on Sunday mornings)

LEGO® SPIKE Prime Robotics & Scratch Coding

Grades 5 to 8

These classes with “the LEGO guy”, Ian Dudley of Orange STEM Education, offer hands-on engineering and robotics projects and challenges. Work in pairs, or teams, with the new LEGO Education SPIKE Prime robotics set and its counterpart, the new LEGO Mindstorms Robot Inventor set. Strengthen your building skills and your understanding of engineering principles as you build a LEGO SPIKE Prime robot and control it with rotation, colour and ultrasonic sensors. Use the LEGO Robot Inventor app for tablet-based Scratch coding and perform mini challenges with your robot.

The Joy of Music and Movement

JK – Grade 1

Sing! Strum! Jump for joy! This creative class explores concepts essential to building a strong musical foundation while focusing on the pure joy of music. Children will explore harmony, rhythm, singing and dancing through interactive songs, play with a wide variety of rhythmic instruments, learn beginner ukulele and so much more! .

High-quality martial arts with experienced instructors. Comic Book Creations

Grades 3 to 6

How do we create a comic book? This is what the students will learn throughout the session. The students will learn to create their own characters, special effects, sound effects. They will create some fantastic scenes and backgrounds while completing their own comic book.

Art Attack

Grades 3 to 6

Join us for our Fall Sunday Art session for fun art classes cover a wide range of techniques – drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery, printing and more. Kids will develop their skills & creativity while having lots of fun. Learning art develops spatial and motor skills in children and teaches them perseverance and problems solving, and emotional intelligence, but most of all is FUN! This class will run once a month for 3 Sunday’s.

Star Gazing Workshop

Children’s Safety Programs

Home Alone Safety for Kids

Ages 8.5 to 12

Is your child prepared to take the first steps towards staying home alone? The Home Alone Safety for Kids program helps children gain confidence and skills to stay at home alone successfully. This safety program is designed for children aged 9 through 12 years old. Safety and awareness are the common themes in this program. All information is current  and reflects what today’s children are facing when home alone. Each participant will take home a Home Alone Safety for Kids Manual and Certificate upon successful completion of the course.

Red Cross Babysitting

Age 11-14

Learn how to create and manage a babysitting business and how to supervise younger siblings or other children in a safe and responsible manner. Aspiring babysitters also learn basic first aid skills.  Participants must be present for the entire course to become certified.
Topics include: Finding clients and making money, caring for children of all ages, creating safe environments and preventing accidents, fire safety and prevention, what to do in an emergency, good decision-making and leadership skills, basic First Aid skills
