New! Senior Basketball

Grades 3 to 7

An introduction to basketball in a supportive group setting.  This program focuses on positive attitude, proper preparation and fostering constant effort throughout.  Each class is 60 minutes and is broken down into a 20/20/20 format.  The first 20 minutes focus on warm-up followed by movement, speed and agility circuits.  The next 20 minutes are skills and drills introducing the fundamentals of basketball (dribbling, passing, shooting, lay-ups, rebounding, defense) as well as basic strategies of the game.  The final 20 minutes are for scrimmages where players will put their positive attitudes, efforts and newly learned skills to use and have fun.

Grades 2 to 5

These creative classes cover a range of art techniques – drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery, printing and more. Kids will develop skills and creativity while having lots of fun. Learning art develops spatial and motor skills in children and teaches them perseverance and problems solving, and emotional intelligence.

Karate

Grades 2 to 7

It’s not too late to join our Karate class as we have a few spots remaining. Karate is a way of life. Students learn physical skills as well as self-discipline, self-motivation, respect and the importance of giving back to the community. Combines top-notch martial arts training, while reaching new heights of physical fitness and promoting excellence in all areas of life. Assertiveness and personal safety skills are incorporated into the class full of kicks and kiais. Gi’s must be worn to class and are available to order and purchase through 6 Tigers Academy after the first class. Please note that if another lockdown occurs classes will be moved to an online format)

The Joy of Music and Movement

JK – Grade 1

Sing! Strum! Jump for joy! This creative class explores concepts essential to building a strong musical foundation while focusing on the pure joy of music. Children will explore harmony, rhythm, singing and dancing through interactive songs, play with a wide variety of rhythmic instruments, learn beginner ukulele and so much more!  All proper COVID protocols will be followed including masks and cleaning of shared instruments etc.

Red Cross Babysitting

Age 11-14

Learn how to create and manage a babysitting business and how to supervise younger siblings or other children in a safe and responsible manner. Aspiring babysitters also learn basic first aid skills.  Participants must be present for the entire course to become certified.

Topics include: Finding clients and making money, caring for children of all ages, creating safe environments and preventing accidents, fire safety and prevention, what to do in an emergency, good decision-making and leadership skills, basic First Aid skills
