Afterschool Program Instructor
The Afterschool Program Instructor is responsible for supervising and engaging school-age children in a safe, supportive, and enriching environment. This role includes planning and leading activities, supporting academic work, fostering positive behavior, and maintaining strong communication with students, families, and staff.
Principal Responsibilities:
The Soloway JCC is seeking highly motivated individuals for after-school instructor positions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Works directly with an assigned group of children as the group’s leader.
- Following a daily schedule
- Actively plan and participate in activities
- Assisting with homework for K-6th grade
- Maintain positive working relationship with coworkers.
- Assist administrators with activities, including maintaining control, safety and healthy of the participants.
- Manage child to child problems.
- Arrive no later than 3:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 1:30 pm on Friday
- Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the program at all times.
- Incorporate Jewish values and ethics and provide safety in all activities.
- Abide by all policies, standards and objectives of the Soloway JCC and the After-School Program
Hours:
- Program run for 3 hours a day starting as early as 3:00 pm Monday through Thursday and Winter Months 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm on Friday
- Program runs M-F on regular days of school and also when school is out by offering mini camps from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm
Minimum Qualifications:
Job Qualifications
- Minimum age requirement of 18 years
- Current College/University Student or Graduate
- Experience working with children in a recreational setting such as camps, childcare, youth programs or school
- Strong Communication, patience and problem solving skills
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Police Check (Vulnerable Sector Check)
Staff should posses:
- Excellent communication and verbal skills
- Skills and energy to work in a fast paced team environment
- Ability to serve as a role model
