Specialty Camps

Some camps are currently full. To add your child to the waitlist, email camp@jccottawa.com with your child’s full name, age and camp session. We will be in touch when a spot becomes available.

The camp day begins at 8:30 am and ends at 4:00 pm. Early Morning and After Camp Care are not available. More pick-up and drop-off information is available here.

Children must a minimum of 8 years old by December 31, 2022.

Junior Scientists

An exciting week of exploration and investigation for our budding scientists that are curious about the world around them.  Join our scientist Michelle Dobbin as we learn about solids, liquids and gases, create chemical reactions and manipulate molecules…just a few things we’ll learn about this week.  A variety of camp games, activities and a daily swim complete the week of programming.

 

LEGO® Mechanical Engineering and Robotics

July 18 – July 22
Ages 8 to 12

Join Ottawa’s very own “LEGO Guy” Ian Dudley of Orange STEM Education for hands-on LEGO Technic TM projects and challenges.  Campers will strengthen their LEGO building skills and their understanding of engineering principles plus learn about strong and stable structures, as well as gearing and drive systems.  While building LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robots campers will learn the basics of EV3 programming with tablets to perform mini-challenges with their robots. A variety of camp games, activities and a daily swim complete the week of programming.  Can’t make it this week? No problem, this camp is back from August 15 to 19.

Cartooning Heroes!

Spy Kids: The Science Behind Spying

Ever wonder how to dust for fingerprints or read invisible ink? Campers use science to discover evidence and clues that will lead them to the capture of the rogue Agent X. On Friday we head to the Diefenbunker to put all our training to use and capture Agent X. Each afternoon is filled with camp activities and a daily free swim in the pool.

 

Magical Mysteries

Learn the secrets of magic with professional magician Michael Bourada.  Spend part of each day learning exciting tricks that will amaze your family and friends.  Every camper will take home their own magic kit at the end of the week.  Magic is a great way to build social skills and confidence. Coach Brown’s All-Star Basketball Camp

Shoot hoops with former NCAA and CIS College Coach Carlos Brown and his team of all-stars.  Perfect your passing, shooting, footwork, and defense.

 

JCC/Next Generation Hockey Camp

August 29 – September 2   9:00 am – 4:00 pm

$450 SJCC Members • $510 Non Members 

Open to those currently playing in Pee Wee, Atom, Novice or Bantam Divisions. This is not a learn-to-play program.  The day starts at the SJCC with programming focused on sports and dryland training with an SJCC Fitness Professional. Next, players hit the ice at Carleton University with coaches from Next Generation Hockey before heading back to the SJCC for a dip in the pool.

All participants must be double vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide their own equipment.

 

The Summer Basketball High Performance Training Sessions with Coach Brown (CBHPTS)

For basketball players looking to improve their level of play during the off season.  Training sessions include conditioning, footwork, speed and agility drills. We will also focus on the  fundamental skills of the game (ball handling, passing, rebounding, dribbling, shooting, finishing, defending and decision making.
