Isofit is a low impact workout that integrates movements from ballet, yoga, Pilates and weight training to help tone the body and strengthen the core. The “iso” is for isometric contractions. We put the muscles under tension and hold them in that position, often adding small movements, so instead of changing the length of the muscles we’re working; we’re engaging more muscle fibres to do the work. This, along with stretching, helps to create long and strong muscles.
Isofit is low impact so anyone can take it. I offer modifications, suggestions and corrections so that the workout is tailored to an individual’s needs.
Teaching these classes is a lot of fun! I try to have great music to motivate students. I love to see people enjoying themselves and getting a good workout at the same time. I want students to find muscles they didn’t know they had!
When I’m not teaching at the SJCC…you might find me in the air! I am an aerial silks performer, and flexibility coach with Aerial Antics. I am also working on my ballet teaching certificate with the Royal Academy of Dance. And if those things aren’t keeping me busy, my 2 boys certainly do! They are 4 and 8 years old and we love to bike, hike, swim and ski.
Join Bronwyn for Isofit Wednesdays at 6:00 pm or Isofit/Yoga Combo every other Sunday 10:30 am.
