BBYO
The B’nai Brith Youth Organization (BBYO) is a youth–led, worldwide organization. There are over 30 regions in North America. Ottawa and Montreal make up the Eastern Canada Region. BBYO is divided into two groups: Aleph Zadik Aleph (AZA) for the boys and B’nai Brith Girls (BBG) for the girls. BBYO is for teens in grade seven through high school.
The objectives of BBYO:
- To help Jewish youth enhance their knowledge and appreciation of Jewish culture by discovering those aspects that are meaningful to them.
- To provide Jewish youth with opportunities to learn Jewish skills and develop their leadership potential.
- To develop in Jewish youth an appreciation of the meaning and practice of Tzedakah in both the Jewish and general community.
- To help Jewish youth develop a commitment to the State of Israel and K’lal Yisrael.
- To help Jewish youth develop a positive image.
- To encourage the development of friendships with other Jewish Youth.
BBYO offers youth an opportunity to grow in many different ways. In BBYO there is something for everyone, including social, athletic, cultural, religious, and community service programs. Regional conventions take place in the fall, winter, and spring.
