Active Jewish Adults (AJA 50+)

A Message from the Co-Presidents
We have had a very successful session. It was a pleasure to see the programs so well attended.

We enjoyed welcoming and meeting our many new members and renewing acquaintances with continuing members. Thanks to the hard work of the wonderful committee under the chairmanship of Sandra Levinson, the AJA 50+ Bridge/ Mah Jongg Fundraiser was the most successful one yet. Those who participated had a wonderful day playing their favourite games, enjoying a delicious lunch and having a chance to win fabulous prizes.

A large number of people turned out for the VIP Brunch and everyone who attended raved about the outstanding speaker, Ellen Wright, and the stimulating, informative and enjoyable time they had. We thank Norma Lazear for the outstanding job she did making all the arrangements for the brunch and ensuring everything ran smoothly.

Computer Club courses were well attended and members who had never used a computer before are thrilled they are now able to email their grandchildren and access the internet.

To those of you who are fortunate to be snowbirds we wish you a safe and enjoyable holiday in warm and sunny climates. For those who remain in Ottawa, or are away for only part of the winter, we encourage your participation in the many excellent, exciting, educational, informative, stimulating and fun programs your program committee, chaired by the dedicated Cecily Bregman and Jerry Penso, have organized for you. As you read through this Guide you will see there is something for everyone. Notice the many new programs, informative health presentations, fascinating art tours at the National Gallery, Computer Club courses and workshops as well as our weekly ongoing programs.

We'd like to highlight a number of special upcoming events:

The Annual AJA 50+ Purim Party at the home of Carol Greenberg takes place on March 18. There will be yummy treats and entertainment provided by Cantor Bielak accompanied by Larry Tarof.

On April 6 enjoy a special One Woman Show, "Treadmill", by Gissa Israel. A comedy about survival and hope which will make you laugh a lot and cry a little.

Save this date, Wednesday May 21, for our second annual Comedy Night Fundraiser, Chuckles & Cheese at Library and Archives Canada.

Thank you for your continued support. Please remember this is your organization, we welcome your comments and input and need your help.

We wish you and your family a healthy, fulfilling and very Happy New Year 2008.
